| Message from the President |
It is my great honor and privilege to serve as the President of Electric Vehicle Association of Asia Pacific (EVAAP) at its General Meeting on November 8, 2010 during the EVS 25 in Shenzhen, China. Before this, I was one of the vice Presidents of EVAAP. Moreover, I have served as the chairperson of EVS 19 which was held in Busan, Korea in 2002.
The former president Dr. C.C. Chan made many accomplishments for not only EVAAP but also World Electric Vehicle Association (WEVA) as well during his tenure as president. I'd like to take this opportunity to express my special thanks to Dr. Chan on his great leadership and endless passion on EV development and promotion.
Today, the world is being faced with various global issues, such as global warming, climate change, the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, decreasing supplies of fossil fuel resources and high oil prices.
It is no surprise that the world is in a fierce race to develop and mass-produce Green cars. There is no doubt that car manufacturers can no longer survive without churning out models called xEVs such as EV, PHEN, EREV, FCHEV, and many other types of EVs.
One of the latest examples of such changes is the GM Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid. Moreover, Nissan unveiled its first EV last year, Leaf, which is to be on sale in Japan, the United States and Europe.
As the economy of Asia Pacific region has been rapidly growing, the role of the Asia Pacific region in the growth of the global economy is becoming more important than ever. However, the development of xEVs is inevitable to overcome energy and environment issues in not only the Asia Pacific region but also the whole world. There are great expectations for the wide spread use of xEVs to contribute to sustainable mobility and conserve our beautiful Earth for years to come.
Asia Pacific needs to be a leader in sustainable technologies. In order to achieve green car development and increase its use worldwide, concerted efforts and attention from all the members of EVAAP are essential.
Any ideas, thoughts or suggestions regarding green cars or anything you want to share and provide information on would be welcome. Your interest and attention are an asset and valuable to EVAAP.
Without your interests and supports, it is hardly make EVAAP and our planet successful and healthy.
